I entered my card details on a fake site: what now?
Immediate steps after sharing card details or approving a payment on a suspicious page.
First action
Freeze the card in your banking app if possible, then immediately contact your bank using a known number and ask how to block the card.
Then take these steps
- Do not enter another code or approve a banking notification, even if the site claims it will cancel a payment.
- Review recent transactions with your bank, report any you do not recognise and request a case reference.
- Keep the message, site address, screenshots and dates. If you also entered a password, change it through the real service and revoke active sessions.
